Businesses are facing a major challenge in their development goals due to globalization and the rapid pace of innovation. More so, in the marketing and sales department of every business, you know there are questions asked always:
- How do I find new customers?
- Where are my old customers?
- How can I differentiate myself or my company from the competition?
- How can I sell more effectively?
- How can I level the highs and lows in my sales?
With these age-old questions asked by many businesses, the turf ahead is getting tougher and tougher by the day as innovation and technology speed up. Many resort to the old-fashioned method of getting customers’ attention that are not working anymore in this age:
- Offline advertising through posters, billboards, radio, and television can not justify its cost.
- The Public Relations press release that used to garner coverage seems not to work anymore.
- Cold-calling and mass email campaigns are becoming redundant Internet-paid ads are also not delivering the massive click-throughs they promise.
Millennials do not even buy physical newspapers anymore – do you notice? Millennials are wary of internet ads and know how to skip, block, or simply avoid them on websites they frequent.

You are so sure that the customers exist. And they would love to have your product or service. Continuing with the same old promotional and advertising techniques as done in the past will not work. The traditional approach to marketing content is almost dead and buried alive already, probably.
The worst is that Universities and Colleges worldwide that are supposed to be at the cutting edge of society’s education are failing us. They are teaching the same things that don’t work in the workplace anymore. This goes for business schools, advertising schools, and communication schools. You can add Computer Science School to the list.

Marketing has changed, we either accept it or not. However, that is the reality. If we as business owners or content marketers cannot think out of the box, then it is our own headache.
